BRAMPTON, ONTARIO – Doug Sexsmith, Branch Manager of SMS Rents Brampton Heavy Equipment Centre, is pleased to announce that SMS Rents has recently increased its fleet of heavy equipment attachments and expanded on their range of applications.
“The acquisition of the new attachments has come largely as a result of feedback from our customers,” according to Sexsmith. “We find that rental demand for specialized applications is increasing and our acquisition of these attachments will ensure we continuemeeting the needs of demolition and infrastructure contractors going forward,” says Sexsmith.
SMS Rents offers a wide variety of big and small attachments, including hydraulic hammers, thumbs, shears, pulverizers, hoe packs, grapples and ditching buckets to fit a range of equipment sizes from the Komatsu PC120 (to 30,000 lbs/13 600 kg) up to the PC400s (to 100,000 lbs/45 350 kg).
“Traditionally, we have met our customers’ needs with our existing line of standard attachments, but the acquisition of more unique larger attachments like shears, pulverizers and hoe packs will continue to open up new markets for SMS Rents,”predicts Sexsmith.

After looking at the various products available and knowing the importance of having equipment ready to go, SMS Rents has acquired hydraulic hammers with an automatic lubrication system.
“High-end, reliable equipment that meets customer needs and demands is important to SMS Rents,” says Sexsmith.
SMSRents stands behind everything it rents, servicing everything thoroughly before it goes out for use. Improving their customers’ machine utilization and efficiency, and keeping customer downtime to a minimum are important goals according to Sexsmith.
“We work alongside of our customers as partners in business so that we can produce a good end-result for them as we go forward together. The addition of these attachments to our fleet presents an opportunity for SMS to put itself in position to partner with our customers,” says Sexsmith.
“Obviously our customers are always looking to be able to run their businesses a little more cost effectively. And they’re always looking for some help with the bottom-line. Our relationships with our customers allow us to be aware of what we need to do to be there for them. Things like getting equipment there when it’s needed or getting it there quicker. We get a little more creative, but it’s always about the relationship and being able to have that discussion with your customer. If you don’t have a relationship, then you’re only a supplier. We want to be our customers’ attachment partners,” says Sexsmith.
The decision to move forward with the attachment business grew out of listening to customer feedback about what they think would enable them to better utilize SMS Rents equipment for some of the projects they have coming up.
“Our customers have let us know what they need to better utilize their equipment and maximize their productivity. Acquiring these new attachments has put us in a position to help them do just that. Contractors within a 2 – 3 hour radius have already started calling and booking their units,” adds Sexsmith.
